Using Business-Driven IAM to Improve Security
Aveksa on Making Better Access Decisions"When we talk about business-driven IAM, what we mean is the ability for people on the information security team to safely shift decision-making responsibilities out to the line of business," says Garbis, vice president of marketing at IAM provider Aveksa.
Traditionally, organizations have taken an IT approach, he explains in an interview with Information Security Media Group at Gartner Summit 2012. "That has led to sub-optimal and difficult decision-making processes around identity management. Taking a business-driven approach helps the organization make better access decisions and have a better security profile."
As vice president, Garbis is responsible for leading Aveksa's product marketing activities. Prior to joining Aveksa, Garbis led go-to-market activities for the cloud computing and data center automation products for BMC Software, a $2 billion business service management software company.
