The Impact of Bit9, Carbon Black Merger

Benjamin Johnson Describes New Approach
The recent merger of Bit9 and Carbon Black will eventually result in a single, merged product offering, says Benjamin Johnson, CTO at Carbon Black.

"Every one of our existing customers who either has the Bit 9 or Carbon Black solution gets the other product for free," Johnson explains. "Longer term, we're going to merge into a single solution."

Bit9 offers an advanced threat protection solution, while Carbon Black offers an endpoint sensor designed to speed incident response. The new company will retain the Bit9 name.

In an interview at the RSA Conference 2014, Johnson:

  • Describes how the merged products will look a year from now;
  • Outlines plans for applying innovation when integrating the products.

Johnson is the CTO and co-founder of Carbon Black. Following the merger with Bit9, he helps to integrate the teams, technology and culture while working on engineering, sales and operations. Before working at Carbon Black, Johnson was a principal software engineer at Kyrus Technology.
