Robert Berlin of Fortinet on Network Security
Defending Against Advanced Threats
The advanced persistent threat is top of mind for all organizations. Either they are dealing with it now, or preparing their defenses just in case. Robert Berlin of Fortinet offers security insight.

Berlin sees two primary challenges facing organizations today: APT is one; a standardized approach to network defense is the other.

"[Customers] are trying to look at standardizing across their enterprise on a singe platform to give them a consistent set of security capabilities, and, hopefully, decrease their costs and operational expenditures with respect to supporting, maintaining and managing those platforms," Berlin says.

In an interview with Information Security Media Group at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2013, Berlin discusses:

  • Advanced threats that challenge organizations today;
  • The need for a standard defensive platform;
  • Fortinet's newest product announcements.

Berlin is senior director of product marketing and management at Fortinet, a worldwide provider of network security appliances that offers unified threat management. He has more than 20 years experience in the networking, cloud IT Infrastructure and security industries. Previously he held positions at Cisco and VCE.
