BYOD: Building an Effective Strategy

AirWatch's Evans on Going Beyond the Device
Ian Evans
Too many organizations have a device-centric BYOD policy that fails to look at big picture issues, including building a comprehensive strategy for protecting corporate information no matter how it's accessed, says Ian Evans of AirWatch.

And it's important that a C-level executive signs off on that strategy, Evans stresses. In an interview at the Infosecurity Europe 2014 conference in London, Evans discusses:

  • The difference between BYOD policies in the U.S. and other countries;
  • Where companies are going wrong, or right, in addressing BYOD;
  • How creating an encrypted folder on a device can help protect business data.

Evans is senior vice president and managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at AirWatch, an enterprise mobility management company. Previously, he worked at a number of global companies, including Astea and O4 Corp.
