Designing Bangladesh's New National Cybersecurity Strategy

The Bangladesh National CERT is working to complete a revised national cybersecurity policy by 2021, says Sabbir Hossain, CERT’s head IT policy and risk analyst.

“As there is no national security strategy in place for our country, it is also essential to directly make the national cybersecurity strategy explaining how digital environment is important for sustainable economic development and defining the risk context as well,” Hossain says (See: New Cybersecurity Guidelines in Bangladesh: What's Needed?).

“There are four areas that are the building blocks of the new cybersecurity strategy. They are strategic context, visions and goals, actions and priorities and most important the strategy implementation procedure.”

  • New guidelines for protection of critical infrastructure;
  • How to build capacity of all digital CERTs.

Hossain is head IT policy and risk analyst in National CERT of Bangladesh. He has more than 10 years of experience in security consultation, security design, framework design, policy making, project development and execution, digital forensics and intelligence solutions.
