Using Network 'Situational Awareness'

Lumeta's Reggie Best on Improving Compliance
Network "situational awareness" can help organizations in all business sectors improve regulatory compliance by identifying networks and devices that need protection, says Lumeta's Reggie Best.

By improving awareness of all aspects of an organization's networks and devices, security professionals can help ensure the monitoring technologies they use do a better job, he says.

In an interview at the Infosecurity Europe 2014 conference in London, Best discusses:

  • Using network situational awareness for asset inventory and management;
  • Steps to take to enhance security audits for regulatory compliance.

Best is chief product officer at Lumeta Corp., where he oversees research, development, product management and marketing teams. Best has a product/technology background, with more than 25 years of experience in communications, networking and IT security businesses since starting his career at Bell Labs, the R&D arm of AT&T.
